Hi, I’m Eli.
I’m a jeweler, teacher, and woodworker based in Montpelier VT. I work in precious and semi-precious metals, incorporating found stones and engraving in my pieces. I do custom work like wedding bands, teach classes, and produce my own work for sale at markets and local stores.
I started making jewelry in 2022, then took a class with Funlola Coker at Haystack! In 2023, I took another class at Haystack with Curtis Arima where I got to dive in deeper, and I’ve been setting up a shop since then. Jim and Jean Kelso have been helping me learn about engraving and composition. In the winter of 2023 I was part of starting the Crumb Factory with some friends, a shared studio space in Montpelier, and that’s where I’ve got my work space!
Mining precious metals is very environmentally damaging and can be socially destructive as well. I source most of my materials through Rio Grande, who follow industry standards for ethical compliance. I save and recycle as much of the metals as I can because of the environmental weight of the materials I’m working in.
I love getting to make things with my hands, and one of the reasons I love teaching is that I can empower others to engage with the objects of their daily life with agency. Making a piece of jewelry lets you notice the choices others have made in the pieces of jewelry you already wear. I’m so grateful to the craft communities I’m a part of and full of admiration for the teachers in my life.
